Non-Profit Recognized for its Novel Reimagining Initiative to make Organization More Relevant

DENVER … May 10, 2017 … JEWISHcolorado, a community organization focused on building and sustaining Jewish life in Colorado, announced today that it earned two gold Stevie® Awards in The 15th Annual American Business Awards.

JEWISHcolorado was recognized as the Gold Stevie Award winner in two categories: Organization of the Year – Non-Profit or Government – Medium, and Best Executive of the Year – Non-Profit or Government Organizations (President and Chief Executive Officer Doug Seserman).

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

More than 3,600 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.

“The recognition our organization received from earning two Gold Stevie awards is a very proud moment for our entire team. Three years ago as we embarked on a journey to reimagine JEWISHcolorado and much of the fruits of our labor began reaping during 2016. And, while I very much appreciate the personal recognition, both awards were truly a team effort. I want to thank my professional staff, volunteer leaders of our board of directors, and, ultimately, our generous donors, who made the reimagining possible, and the prominent judges for the recognition,” said Seserman.

The judges in both categories clearly saw the efforts the JEWISHcolorado team put forth in fostering change for the organization. Their comments included observations, such as: “Not an easy feat to move away from the norm held by a central entity to which Allied Jewish Federation is bound, and even more difficult to reimagine, rebrand and repurpose an old organization. That it was thought out strategically and executed well is clear from the success it has reaped in 2016, which in itself is a fairly quick turnaround for a rebranded entity. The non-profit and donor-dependant nature of the organization lends even more weight to what it has accomplished…,” and “Solid strategic thinking to come up with a realistic plan to grow the organization, and with specific measurable and quantifiable tactics behind it. The results are impressive and have lots of numerical proof to stand behind them.”

More than 190 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners. . Details about The American Business Awards and the list of 2016 Stevie winners are available at www.StevieAwards.com.
