Company Earns Finalist Status in Developing World Technology Category

San Diego … April 6, 2017RippleNami, Inc., a provider of a map-based data visualization platform accessed via the cloud, announced today it has been named a finalist in Fast Company’s 2017 World Changing Ideas Awards in the Developing World Technology category

Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards honor businesses, policies, projects and concepts that offer innovative solutions to issues facing humanity. All finalists are highlighted in the April print issue of Fast Company, which hit newsstands March 27.

Launched this year, the World Changing Ideas Awards showcase 12 winners and name more than 150 finalists. A panel of eminent judges selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 1,200 entries across 12 categories worldwide, from food and energy to developing world technology. Honorees include, among others, GE and Microsoft, nonprofits like Ideo.org and the U.N. World Food Programme, along with innovative startups such as RippleNami, Beyond Meat, Otto and Hyperloop One.

“This is tremendous acknowledgement of RippleNami’s first-of-its-kind big data mapping technology that allows users to map and visualize precisely what’s important to them in their world,” said RippleNami President and CEO Jaye Connolly-LaBelle. “We are honored that the judges saw the difference our technology can bring about to provide unconnected people with access to the resources they need to survive and thrive.”

RippleNami’s founder Phil Gahn added, “RippleNami was founded on the idea that there needs to be a much easier way to visualize any data on a map. Armed with a team that has extensive experience working in developing countries, we realized that many organizations struggle with understanding where water wells, schools, contagious diseases, security issues and other critical information are actually occurring. We fill that need with our simplified geo-location so anyone – regardless of education – can easily put this information onto a map and use it to collaborate and make critical decisions. Our ability to ingest any kind of data, including blockchain, and map it, makes RippleNami’s technology unlike any other.”

Fast Company has always insisted that being a force for good has to be a key element for any business,” says Fast Company Editor and Managing Director Robert Safian. “These World Changing Idea award winners and finalists show how organizations around the world are embracing the ideals of creativity and innovation to create enormous impact.”
